Project summary

The increasing deployment of renewable energy production is rapidly causing a mismatch between energy generation and consumption, as we cannot control when energy is produced.

The SmartCORE project promotes innovative energy management capabilities among energy communities in North-West Europe. This involves different activities, such as energy sharing, retailer’s portfolio optimisation, congestion management services - with Distribution System Operators (DSOs) - and balancing services - with Transmission System Operators (TSOs).

Project key activities

To achieve its objectives, SmartCORE will carry out the following activities:

  • Developing common energy management strategies,
  • Deploy five pilots in the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg and France,
  • Offer training to 30 energy communities, and coaching for six energy communities,
  • Elaborate on an energy management guide and training materials that will be made available online to all energy communities.
